Janet and Gavin
Janet Farrar & Gavin Bone

For all those who don't know who we are, we are practising Wiccans (modern witches) and authors who publish books on the subjects of Paganism, Magick and Witchcraft. Prior to Stewart's death on the 7th February 2000, Janet and Stewart had published their works since 1971, and are recognised as experts on Witchcraft and the Occult. Gavin joined them in 1993, and have since worked with them on The Pagan Path, a study of Paganism worldwide, The Healing Craft, a healer's worksbook for Pagans, The Complete Dictionary of European God and Goddesses, and our most recent Progressive Witchcraft. To date, we have had eleven books between us, on the subjects mention, published in the United States, Britain and as far afield as Brazil, Japan and the Czech Republic.

We are active members in The Aquarian Tabernacle Church Ireland and have links with several covens in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. We run a progressive coven in Ireland called Coven Na Callaighe which is part of Teampall Na Callaighe which includes as an open worship group.

Our current practical work is in the areas of Spiritism and Trace Prophesy. We regularly conduct practical Workshops in these fields for the Pagan Community. Janet is also a professional Tarot Reader and Gavin, an Empathic Spirital Healer.

We are also now looking at video as a training medium and hope to relase several training DVDs in the near future.

Worship

Teampall (Temple) Na Callaighe is named after the nearby Sacred Sites at Laugh Crew, which includes Slieve Na Callaighe or Hill of the Veiled One. It consists of Coven Na Callaighe, and its Outer Circle.

Coven Na Callaighe is a progressive Wiccan coven which uses Shamanism, psychism and Spirituality as its basis of practise rather than the Alexandrian or Gardnerian traditions (although these are also taught as comparisons). It is polytheistic (gods and goddesses as individual entities in their own right) as opposed to duotheistic ('all gods are one god; all goddesses are one goddess'). Members are taught ritual but the emphasis is on personal connection with deity and spirit forms. Apart from the obvious Wicca training (e.g. Spellcraft/Magical Practise, Wheel of the Year, Triple Goddess/Dual God, etc.), it also includes:

Initiation is considered to be a spiritual rather than ritual process (if you want more information on this system of training, read our new book Progressive Witchcraft).

Teaching

We do not actively seek members. Becoming a member of the coven is a lengthy process and not for those who are not willing to dedicate themselves completely to divinity and the process of learning - we turn away more than we take on - and it may take several years before being accepted as a member. Coven standards are high and we do not take beginners, only those with at least a basic understnading of what witchcraft and paganism is.

Callaighe Outer-Circle is an open neo-pagan worship group affiliated with the Coven, where anyone of likemindedness is welcome to attend. It meets primarily at major festivals and is involved with the open activities of the Coven. It is not strictly Wiccan but broadly eclectic in nature, and includes Druidic and Shamanistic practises.
