Brids Cloak
A Stunning piece cast in the finest sterling silver set with a large, genuine malachite with dramatic marbling. The design represents the green fields of Kildare in Ireland where, in the legends of St. Bridget who in earlier pagan times was the Goddess Brid, it is said that she spread her green cloak over this ancient land and claimed it for Christ. As the Goddess Brid, her cloak symbolizes her healing aspect, and the triple spiral; the accepted symbol for ancient Ireland as it is found on the ancient megalithic standing stones, the symbol of life, death and rebirth – the symbol of ‘three in one’; Maid, Mother and Crone, or the Holy Trinity.
(Measures 1.5" h x .75" w from top of bale.)
